- Do I need a captain's or boating license to rent a boat?
No. We'll certainly ask about your experience. With a couple of questions, we can usually get a good gut feeling whether
or not we should turn you loose with one of our boats.
We do reserve the right to refuse service to anyone.
- What if the weather is bad?
We wouldn't send you out in conditions that would put you or our boats in danger. There is normally a chance of a random
thunderstorm quickly passing thru on any given hot summer afternoon. That's a chance we all take.
We'll check the forecast the night before your outing to determine if conditions are shaping up as reasonably unfavorable
for your booked period. We do not consider 'overcast and breezy' inclement weather.
- Will you keep our deposit if our outing is cancelled due to weather?
No. We will, of course, do our best to book you at another convenient time.
- Can we bring our own water toys or fishing gear?
Yes. Your welcome to bring your own. If you need additional gear, we have a nice variety to choose from.
- If we return early, will we get a refund on remaining rental time?
No. Your payment is for the time block booked. Enjoy the boat as little or as long as you want during that period.
You may return to the dock anytime for a break or to get provisions.
-Can we bring a pet?
We'll consider it. If ANY pet hair or waste is found on boat upon return, we'll charge you $40 to clean it up.
- Can we keep the boat overnight at our dock?
Yes, you can with special permission. You will not be allowed to operate after dark or before sunrise, however.
- Do we have to wash the boat when we return?
One of the joys of renting is that the dirty work is done by someone else. We'll be glad to wash the salt spray off the
boat and empty the potty for you. If you bring her back with sand, food crumbs, fish debris, and dog hair on the deck or seats,
we'll give you the opportunity to clean up after yourself. We'll charge $40 if we have to clean that up.
- Can we bring alcoholic beverages on board?
Yes. The captain, however, can't drink them. The authorities on the water will treat operation of a boat while under the
influence the very same as if you were driving your car. If our boat is left anchored in the water due to the captain's arrest,
your entire security deposit will be used to for the expense of getting your boat back to our dock.
We reserve the right to refuse service to any renter that arrives at check-in with evidence of drug or alcohol use. we
will cancel the reservation and retain your deposit.
- Where are we allowed to take the boat?
North and south on the intracoastal waterway and Carolina Beach basin. East and west on Snow's cut. Navigation into the
Cape Fear River and into the ocean is prohibited.
You'll be given a map detailing the suggested route. There's lots of water out there for your enjoyment.
- What happens if we have boat trouble?
You'll use your experience and common sense to secure the boat and then call us. We'll do some troubleshooting over the
phone and hopefully resolve the issue. We'll do our best to get to you as fast as possible if need be.
If you run hard aground or run out of gas, you'll hopefully score some help or a tow in from a friendly passerby. Otherwise,
you'll call Sea Tow and will be responsible for the bill. You'll leave the Dockside docks with all the tools to keep yourself
out of these situations (fuel guage, depth sounder, and map). What you do with these is up to you.
Call us with any other questions.
